Unfortunately, if Napa did have a Kirkbride it&#8217;s long gone. According to <a title=\"At 130 years, Napa State Hospital is leading reforms in mental health\" href=\"http:\/\/www.napavalleyregister.com\/articles\/2005\/12\/02\/news\/local\/iq_3193466.txt\" target=\"_blank\">this write-up on the institution&#8217;s 130th anniversary<\/a> the building was town down in 1949.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s another image that better shows the &#8220;Kirkbride-ness&#8221; of this lost building.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kirkbridebuildings.com\/blog\/images\/2008\/04\/09\/2.jpg\" alt=\"Napa State Hospital\" width=\"484\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It looks like it was a big one too, although maybe not as large as <a title=\"Greystone Park State Hospital\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kirkbridebuildings.com\/buildings\/greystonepark\/\">Greystone<\/a> or <a title=\"Buffalo State Hospital\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kirkbridebuildings.com\/buildings\/buffalo\/\">Buffalo<\/a>. I can&#8217;t imagine anyone not seeing the aesthetic and historical value of this structure, but stranger things have happened. Maybe it was considered too over the top for a public hospital.
