Since then, I&#8217;ve found a few more worth pointing out and as promised, I&#8217;m listing them here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Placeography\" href=\"http:\/\/www.placeography.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Placeography<\/a> is a wiki site where people share information about locations (eg houses, buildings, parks, neighborhoods, etc). The <a title=\"Fergus Falls State Hospital\" href=\"http:\/\/www.placeography.org\/index.php?title=Fergus_Falls_State_Hospital%2C_1400_Union_Avenue_North%2C_Fergus_Falls%2C_Minnesota#Memories_and_stories\">Fergus Falls State Hospital page<\/a> links to KirkbrideBuildings.com. It also links to a page where you can hear a two-part radio series on the hospital, <a title=\"Building Minnesota\" href=\"http:\/\/buildingminnesota.blogspot.com\/2007\/06\/update-fergus-falls-mental-hospital.html\">Update: Fergus Falls Mental Hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a long article about the renovation of Building 50 at the former Traverse City State Hospital: <a title=\"Granting Asylum\" href=\"http:\/\/www.remodeling.hw.net\/reuse\/beforeafter-granting-asylum.aspx\">Granting Asylum<\/a>. It&#8217;s a bit old (published in 2006), but it&#8217;s worth reading if you&#8217;re not familiar with the story of Building 50&#8217;s rebirth or if you want to learn some of the finer details.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Those of you interested in the paranormal might find this writing project by an Ohio University journalism major interesting: <a title=\"Haunted Ohio University?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theouridges.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Haunted Ohio University?<\/a> It also links to a photo album of <a title=\"The Ridges Pictures\" href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/jc623005\/TheRidgesAthensOhio#\" target=\"_blank\">pictures from inside the Athens Kirkbride<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the curious and sad story of Oscar Radnisky who was committed to Taunton State Hospital: <a title=\"Oscar Radnisky\" href=\"http:\/\/www.morningsonmaplestreet.com\/oscarradnisky1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mornings on Maple Street &#8211; Oscar Radnisky<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Parisian pyschotherapist blogger writes about Kirkbride buildings in <a title=\"Brrr ca fait froid dans le dos!\" href=\"http:\/\/psychotherapeute.blogspot.com\/2008\/07\/kirkbride-asylums.html\" target=\"_blank\">Kirkbride Buildings! Brrr \u00e7a fait froid dans le dos!<\/a> Although I barely speak French, I was able to get a reasonable translation through Babel Fish. Along with the usual history of the asylums (and a rather overly liberal sprinkling of screengrabs from my site:\\), the writer briefly raises the interesting idea that although Moral Treatment was better than what came before, it replaced physical oppression with &#8220;moral oppression&#8221; and implied that the mentally ill were responsible for their condition.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a small collection of brief excerpts from official documents telling bits of the story of the founding of Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie located <a title=\"Some Hudson River State Hospital History\" href=\"http:\/\/www.geocities.com\/ginnyflies\/hrpc.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And finally, there&#8217;s a huge collection of personal thoughts and stories about Worcester State Hospital at <a title=\"Worcester Asylum for the Insane\" href=\"http:\/\/www.worcestermass.com\/places\/asylum.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Worcester, Mass &#8211; Places of the Past, Asylum for the Insane<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in January, I wrote about some of the less well-known web pages linking to this site which I thought might be of interest to you.
