For the first time since it closed the Weston State Hospital's TB Building will be open and serve as the back drop for this years Haunted Asylum that runs the month of Oct.
I was down for the Asylum Haunted House just this evening, and it was really pretty good, if you are into that type of thing.
The best part for me though, was definitely getting to stroll around inside the TB building, It actually looks like it is in fairly good condition and very structurally sound. It was interesting to see the openness of the wards, and how they were designed to have large amounts of light, and lots of open air.
I'd definitely love it, if they would integrate that into part of their tour.
Afterwards, I did the flashlight tour, and I wish I would have got the name of the Tourguide, she was an absolutely fascinating Lady, who really seemed knowledgeable of the history of the kirkbride building, and it's usage at various times.
I'll also attest to the repair work done in the lobby, and some of the first floor rooms, it looks quite nice. I think the Jordans definitely are doing a good job with the place. I can only begin to imagine the amount of money it will take to keep work up on the building.
Here's a link to my flickr page, with some more pics of the Repairs on the first floor, and some pics of the rest of the building.
